Evidence Based Research

Kyzatrex is an oral testosterone pill used to restore testosterone levels in adult men with naturally low serum testosterone.

It raises blood testosterone and improves low T symptoms, helping increase muscle mass, bone density, sex drive, and energy.

A six-month clinical trial reveals that Kyzatrex raised testosterone in 96% of hypogonadal men. It increased free testosterone by twofold and reduced sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG) by 30%. SHBG protein binds to serum testosterone. Its high levels lead to low free testosterone.

Men who dislike needles or find other testosterone treatment options inconvenient choose oral TRT options like Kyzatrex.

What is Kyzatrex?

Kyzatrex is a fluid-filled capsule containing testosterone undecanoate as an active ingredient.

Testosterone is a controlled substance (CIII), meaning it is regulated by authoritative bodies because of its potential for abuse (like in bodybuilding or sports).

That is why you can only obtain Kyzatrex through a prescription. Once you start taking it, your testosterone concentrations and overall health are carefully monitored to ensure safety.

How does Kyzatrex work: Kyzatrex mechanism of action

Kyzatrex is taken orally twice a day with food that supports its absorption.

Unlike traditional oral testosterone, Kyzatrex uses a lipid-based formulation that helps it get absorbed into the lymphatic system instead of being extensively metabolized (broken down) by the liver.

This improves oral testosterone’s bioavailability, maintains steady testosterone levels and reduces liver damage/strain (which is a common problem with older oral testosterone options).

Once in the blood, Kyzatrex releases free testosterone that reaches its target tissues to produce different effects.

What is Kyzatrex used for?

Kyzatrex is used to treat men who have low T due to certain medical conditions like hypogonadism. It is mainly prescribed to men with:

Primary hypogonadism – occurs when the testicles (the main testosterone producers in males) fail to synthesize natural testosterone. Testicular injury, cancer treatments, infections and certain genetic conditions are its common causes.

Secondary hypogonadism or hypogonadotropic hypogonadism – happens when testicles are working fine, but the hypothalamus-pituitary complex fails to produce enough gonadotropins (LH and FSH hormones) that normally stimulate testicles. An abnormality with the pituitary gland or hypothalamus can cause it.

Kyzatrex is not prescribed for age-related hypogonadism. Its safety and effectiveness is also not clear for children younger than 18 years of age, in whom it may affect bone growth.

Kyzatrex for bodybuilding

Since testosterone is an androgen hormone that supports muscle growth, some bodybuilders may misuse Kyzatrex to build muscle faster than usual.

Kyzatrex is designed for men with low or no testosterone, not for those who already have normal testosterone levels.

Taking it in large doses without a medical need and without proper guidance from a medical professional can result in serious side effects.

Some of these negative effects of the improper use of Kyzatrex include high blood pressure, heart problems, heart attack, heart failure, liver toxicity, infertility and psychological disorders.

Kyzatrex dosage

Kyzatrex softgel capsules are taken twice a day with meals – once in the morning (morning dose) and again in the evening (evening dose), mostly with a 12-hour gap between doses.

They are available in three strengths: 100mg, 150mg, and 200 mg. Having three strengths allows doctors to fine-tune dosing for patients according to their individual needs.

Kyzatrex is not prescribed with a one-size-fits-all approach. Doctors choose your TRT dosage based on your starting testosterone levels

Usually, patients are initially prescribed a low dose, which is gradually increased according to their requirements.

How to take Kyzatrex?

As mentioned earlier, take Kyzatrex with meals, particularly fatty meals, as fat triggers the lymphatic absorption that makes oral testosterone effective. Consuming it on an empty stomach can cut absorption greatly.

Always take Kyzatrex according to your healthcare provider’s instructions. Never skip a dose or change your medication’s strength on your own.

Take it around the same time every day to maintain a steady level of testosterone in your bloodstream.

Does Kyzatrex work?

Current data show that Kyzatrex is an effective oral TRT for male hypogonadism.

In a 6-month 2024 trial conducted on 155 hypogonadal men, 96% of completers achieved normal 24-hr mean testosterone by day 90 on Kyzatrex. This trial is the efficacy evidence that was used for FDA approval.

Many men experience improvement in their low T symptoms (such as decreased muscle mass, bone strength, etc.) within weeks of taking oral testosterone undecanoate. Full effects become visible in 3 to 6 months, depending on what your starting testosterone level is.

What are Kyzatrex benefits?

Kyzatrex is a beneficial TRT replacement pill that offers several benefits to men dealing with male hypogonadism.

Here are some of the prominent benefits of Kyzatrex:

  • Improved mood and energy
  • Improved muscle mass
  • Better bone mineral density
  • Increased sex drive and overall sexual function
  • Better erectile function
  • Easy to take
  • Convenient and pain-free
  • High rate of total testosterone restoration
  • Steady hormone levels

Kyzatrex offers these benefits when taken consistently at the prescribed dosage. As long as you are taking it, you will consistently have to monitor your health through blood tests to ensure treatment safety and efficacy.

Is Kyzatrex safe?

Kyzatrex is a well-tolerated medication that is safe when taken under medical supervision. But like all other medications, it too has some potential side effects and safety considerations.

That is why Kyzatrex is not suitable for everyone. Doctors analyze Kyzatrex’s pros and cons for each case separately and only prescribe it to patients whom they consider to be the right candidate.

Kyzatrex side effects

Kyzatrex comes with some unpleasant side effects that you must be aware of before taking it. It causes an increased risk of:

  • Increase in blood pressure
  • Headaches
  • Nausea and heartburn
  • Joint pain
  • Swelling of lower legs
  • Increased red blood cell count (erythrocytosis)
  • Enlarged prostate (increased urination)
  • Blood clot in the lungs
  • Worsening of sleep apnea
  • Increase in breast size, breast tenderness and painful breasts
  • Weight gain
  • Liver problems

Some people can be allergic to Kyzatrex. If you notice any Kyzatrex allergic reaction signs like breathing issues and lips, throat or tongue swelling, get emergency help immediately.

Become more conscious of your health and the changes happening in the body when you start taking Kyzatrex. Report its side effects to your doctors if you notice any.

TRT with Kyzatrex vs Injections

Kyzatrex and testosterone injections are two different forms of TRT that differ from each other based on their testosterone administration method.

It is taken orally, while injections are taken into muscles from where testosterone enters the bloodstream directly.

You can take Kyzatrex on your own at home, while self-administering injections requires some practice.

Although both TRT forms have the same goal (which is to bring low testosterone levels within the normal range), injections are often considered the standard option because they have a proven track record and offer reliable absorption.

Comparatively, Kyzatrex is newer, FDA-approved only in August 2022.

Your choice of TRT form depends on your preferences and health needs.

If you want to avoid needles and are okay with frequent dosing, go for Kyzatrex. But if you need a well-established TRT option that requires less frequent dosing and has long-term safety data available, then testosterone injections may be the right choice.

Discuss your preferences with your doctor to help them design a customized TRT plan that suits your needs well.

Kyzatrex vs Jatenzo

Both Kyzatrex and Jatenzo are oral testosterone replacement therapy options containing testosterone undecanoate as an active ingredient.

Jatenzo, the first FDA-approved oral testosterone, was approved for hypogonadism in 2019, while Kyzatrex was approved for the same purpose in 2022.
