To begin TRT in the UK regulations require two blood tests showing low testosterone — a basic test and a comprehensive test. 

  • The basic test is a simple finger-prick kit you can do at home. 
  • The comprehensive test is a venous blood test, taken by a qualified nurse. We have partner clinics across the UK, and our partner nursing team can visit your home or workplace for convenience. 

If you already have a recent testosterone test result (within the last three months), we may be able to accept it — helping you move straight to the comprehensive test and start your TRT journey sooner.

If you’re worried about your testosterone levels, the best place to start is with an easy at-home finger-prick test. Your kit will arrive by post and includes everything you need, along with step-by-step instructions. Once you’ve taken your sample, simply post it back in the prepaid envelope to our partner lab for testing.

If you find finger-prick tests difficult or uncomfortable, you can also choose to use a Tassodevice — a small, automated collection device that makes the process virtually pain-free and even easier to complete at home.

If your first blood test shows that your testosterone levels are low, we’ll recommend completing a second, more detailed hormone profile. This test is carried out through a venous blood draw, allowing for a much deeper and more accurate analysis of your hormone health.

Ongoing Blood Testing and Monitoring

Once you begin testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), regular blood tests and follow-up consultations become an essential part of your care. These check-ins allow your doctor to monitor your progress, assess how your body is responding, and make any necessary adjustments to optimise your treatment.

Your monitoring schedule typically includes a follow-up venous blood test at six weeks, followed by tests at six months, twelve months, and then annually thereafter.

The cost of these scheduled blood tests and doctor consultations is included in your monthly subscription. Any additional or unscheduled blood tests requested outside this routine monitoring plan may incur an extra charge.

You’ll have doctor consultations at the three-month and six-month stages, where your results and progress will be reviewed in detail. Between these appointments, our dedicated support team is always available if you need advice or assistance.
